Turtle CYP was started in 1998 by a group of local organisations who identified a need in the community. It was set up as a community organisation and over the years, has been know as ‘Four Towns Play Association’, and most recently, ‘South Gloucestershire Playscheme’.
In 2021, we became a registered charity and in 2024 changed our name to Turtle CYP (C = children, Y = young people, P = professionals). The change of name to Turtle CYP was down to us delivering a wider range of services across a wider area.
Turtle CYP represents our service users feeling safe under our shell which leads to being able to grow, play, be inspired, use their imaginations, be creative, have fun and look to the future and ultimately, break out of their shell.
We currently provide the following services:
Playscheme
Playscheme for children aged 5-11 during Easter, Summer and Christmas school holidays in South Gloucestershire.
Youth Work Courses
Introduction to youth work course, Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles and Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice.
We currently cover Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire, BANES, Bristol, North Somerset and Somerset.

Every year we apply to lots of different funding pots. We feel it’s important to ensure that there is no cost to the families that attend our scheme.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the following funders that have given us funding so far this year:
