FAQ’s for Cygnet
Why is it called Cygnet?
This is because it has historically followed on from the NAS Early Bird Programme for under 5’s. Hence we are following the bird theme.
What does Cygnet cover?
The core Cygnet programme is delivered over seven two and a half to three-hour sessions which include:
- Introductory session
- Autism an overview
- Sensory needs
- Communication
- Understanding behaviour
- Supporting behaviour
- Choice decided by parents/carers.
How much does it cost?
It is delivered to parents at no cost.
How many parents are in a group?
There should be no more than 12.
Does my child need to have a diagnosis of autism for me to access a group?
Yes, they have to have a diagnosis and there is no exceptional circumstances. It is a requirement.
Who will look after my child while I’m in the course?
You’ll need to find suitable child care while attending the course if it’s face to face as we can’t accommodate children attending. Parents/ carers can attend separate courses if this helps.
